St. Jacobs is a market and community rooted in discovery, where history, curiosity, and character intersect. The branding needed to reflect that layered identity while presenting a more modern, minimal visual presence that could be applied across merchandise, signage, and digital touchpoints. Our goal was to create a system that felt clean and timeless while still hinting at the quirk, depth, and charm the market is known for.
To achieve this, we used a dark, understated base palette to evoke a sense of mystery and refinement; mirroring the experience of stepping into a market full of rare finds and hidden gems. Accents of orange served as a visual spark: warm, energetic, and slightly unexpected. This small but intentional contrast added vitality to the otherwise minimal aesthetic.
Typography played a central role in this refinement. We chose a clean, modern sans serif to ensure clarity and legibility across print and screen, giving the brand a contemporary edge without overwhelming its historic roots. The logo itself was designed to feel adaptable; simple enough to scale down for tags or signage, but distinct enough to stand on its own.
The animated logo added a dynamic layer to the brand identity. Elements of the logo playfully interacted with one another to suggest movement and interplay between old and new. The animation is subtle but intentional, bringing life to the visual system and reinforcing the brand’s balance of heritage and modernity.

Although this project did not involve many tweaks or revisions, it required a high level of intentionality from the start, each design decision needed to reflect both the brand’s heritage and its modern direction with precision and control.
"We needed posters, signage, and handouts that felt nostalgic but still modern—and Jessica understood the vibe instantly. The design struck that perfect balance between vintage charm and clear, contemporary communication. Shoppers loved it, and vendors adored the rebrand."
