Create a cohesive poster series that visually and thematically connects three places, through a unified illustration style.

Final posters

This poster series was created to recognize and honour the Indigenous Nations rooted in the lands now known as Toronto (Tkronto), Montreal (Mooniyang), and Calgary (Mohkinstsis). Each poster highlights the Nation most closely associated with each region: the Mohawk, Anishinaabeg, and Siksikawa. The storytelling is intentional, rooted in cultural respect and visual symbolism.

The art style draws from early Indigenous markings, cave drawings, and traditional motifs. This approach echoes the visual language of ancestral expression while maintaining a contemporary and respectful tone. Each poster includes culturally meaningful animals and symbols such as buffalo, bears, arrows, and feathers, selected for their deep cultural and ecological (also important to each DIFFERENT indigenous group) relevance.

Modern cityscapes appear in the background, symbolizing the coexistence of past and present and the ongoing presence of Indigenous communities in urban spaces. Educational text is layered into each design to provide essential historical context and encourage public awareness. Every design choice was informed by independent research using public, credible, and educational sources to ensure authenticity and cultural accuracy.
